Falun Gong (Force of the Law Wheel), also called Falun Dafa (The Great Way of the Law Wheel), is a wonderful synthesis of ancient Buddhist and Daoist practices.

To me, it is a link between Yoga and the energy practices of Qi Gong. Its relatively simple exercises can be performed by almost anyone who is able to sit and stand up.

It is centered around building a spiritual force in the form of a Dharma Wheel. The practitioner becomes a living “energy transmutation machine” working according to the Highest Divine principles. Over time, this builds up a force called “gong” (功), an intelligent power that has a multitude of benefits. Essentially, you are building up a kind of “Siddhi manager”. This concept is important, because Falun Gong does not only develop Siddhis in isolation (so-called “supernatural” powers), which can cause more harm than good in the long term, but also acts as a guide to Lawful Thought and Action (Dharma).

Another piece of good news is that to practice effectively, you don’t need to visit seminars or become part of a Falun Gong group. All you need are the exercises, along with their magical verses.

To make it easier to learn the movements and verses, I have started to create a series of videos that allow you to practice each exercise and corresponding verse on its own, in the form of hour-long loops that allow you to choose your own repetition numbers without having to rewind a video.

So far, I have completed videos for the first two movements.

Here’s a link to the Youtube playlist, which I will keep updated as I complete new videos.

    1. Hi. Thanks for your opinion. This certainly won’t be the last post ever on my blog, but right now my energy is focused on other matters. If there’s any specific topic you’d like me to write about, let me know.

Also thank you for your concern. I am confident in my interaction with Daoist energies, spirits and practices. I wouldn’t recommend anyone to get into the politics of Falun Gong though. And there are also parts of Mr. Li’s teachings and philosophy that I don’t necessarily agree with.

      1. Glad to hear you’ll be posting again and haven’t gotten sucked into the cult! Falun Gong practitioners I talked to in person got very exceptionally uptight when I asked questions about doing their exercise system, and continuing other meditation practices. They also nagged me about “having to read zhuan falun every every day” otherwise the “exercises won’t work” and suchlike. Listening to the lectures every day was also not good enough, they said. I dunno, I found them to be very opinionated. Some of these opinions were not even things from the lectures, or books, but from the online community of falun practitioners whom use a proprietary peer to peer chat application. Not to mention, they were seemingly inclined to anger with regards to my inability to reproduce perfectly the qigong forms, due to a dislocated joint a misshapen bone.

The politics and business side of Falun Gong and NTD are well funded, certainly. Scrupulous or not, I can’t say with full confidence. Though they do espouse a profoundly strict moral philosophy. But something tells me they are probably lying about the number of things. I was frankly disgusted by their exploitative propaganda and constant double dealing in their clearly politicized “totally not religious, cultish or sectarian” propagandizing. The Udumbara flower’s blossoming at an undisclosed location signifies the birth of the yellow weasel wording messiah of our age, I heard.

I am sure the falun energy implants, and other qiji are observably real. But as to what they really do, I am not sure. Li Hongzhi is a gifted public speaker no doubt. What he really believes remains a mystery, to me. The exercises do have a profound energetic affect. I suspect that the original seven movements and meditation of the falun xiulian dafa come from the Dragon Gate lineage of Taoism through Wang Li Ping. But the question of their true origins remains a mystery in the anglosphere. If you can find out more, I would be honestly quite curious to know the answer, and moreover the exercises. Searchably indexed published information about falun xiulian dafa is scant. Perhaps a small fortune could be made in publishing and publicizing the actual unredacted exercises. But I suspect one would meet considerable resistance if teaching openly, due to the well funded and nigh religious cult of personality surrounding Mr. Li.

I really liked your article on the relation of the salamnders, slyphs, undines and gnomes to the intentions, thoughts, feelings and sensations. I would really love to read more of your thoughts and opinions on the matter of Franz Bardon’s written works, especially if you would consider writing about each of the beings of the earth zone, original intelligences, beings of the zone girdling the earth, sphere of the moon, and so on.

Moreover, with regards to the rituals, bearings and postures, the rituals also are very interesting. I would recommend to anyone doing those practices for the first time, to consider specifically the mastery of Bardon’s Initiation curriculum. If you would write about your own individual use of hermetic rituals that would be interesting. Of course, I would not expect you to share the actual hand signs, signatures or glyphs of those rituals; lest you waste your power accumulated on the uninitiated or advantage-taking individuals. More the principle function and effectivity in your experience of your individual hermetic rituals, bearings and porstures would be of interest.

Kind regards, and best luck with your continued research, practice and magical exercises.

PS I hope my tacit and explicit criticisms don’t dissuade you from doing what is effective for you. However I do be at times slightly worried by the karmic implications of doing the falun gong.

  1. According to the Chinese TV, Li Hongzhi was a student of Li Weidong, a teacher of “Chanmi Gong” (by Liu Hanwen) and “Jiugong Bagua Gong” by Yu Guangsheng. The person who claimed that is Li Jingchao, an early student of Li Hongzhi. Another person named Song Nianyuan (宋念原), who came in contact with Falun Gong during the early years, wrote that Li Hongzhi copied exercises from Jiugong Bagua Gong and Chanmi Gong. In a book (“The Days of the Family of Li Hongzhi and I in Thailand”) written by Sun Senlun (Natawut Smittipong), the brother-in-law of Li Hongzhi, it is written that Li Hongzhi was interested in Thai dances and made Thai dance moves into exercises. But on Falun Gong’s side, it is another story, where Li Hongzhi learned things from four masters since 4 years old and turned “Falun Xiulian Dafa” of the “Buddha School” into Falun Gong, but this is a “legend”.
